Shining the road to glory, join the Hieratic Dragons!

HEEEELLLLOO NOVA-STAR ACADEMY! I'm your current host Desara and I'm here to bring you the amazing archetype of Hieratic Dragons. A few little neat tid bits about the cards themselves, the entire archetype is light(Unless you use non-Hieratic dragons), they're technically not dragons!(That's right, they're actually avatars of Egyptian Gods in a draconic form hence their use of the word 'of XXXX' Hieratic Dragon of Gebeb and such.) And they work amazingly against most meta decks. I'll be showing the important cards in most builds then go over the more rare ones to use.

Our first card up is the MVC (Most valuable card):
Spoiler:

You can normal summon this card without Tributing, but its original attack becomes 1000. Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up Dragon normal type monster; The levels of all 'Hieratic' monsters on the field become that targets level. When this card is tributed, special summon one normal dragon type monster from your deck, hand, or grave. It's ATK and Defense become 0.

This card is your MVC. It will make so many rank plays happen. This card is easy to get out and amazing if left unattended. I suggest running three of him in all Hieratic engines.

Next up is our monster slayer:
Spoiler:

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 1 "Hieratic" monster. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Hieratic" monster, except this card, from your hand or your side of the field, to target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy that target. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, and make its ATK and DEF 0.

This monster is pure hate on things like Ophion, Priestess, even five headed and other annoying cards. Don't use it on Thought Ruler or Number 71. It'd be a very large waste to do so. Tribute anything dead in your hand away like the seals and pop a free monster.

Here is our Backrow destroyer:
Spoiler:

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 1 "Hieratic" monster. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Hieratic" monster, except this card, from your hand or your side of the field, to target 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls; destroy that target. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, and make its ATK and DEF 0.

This card is used to bait out traps and such since things like bottomless and torrential won't affect the monster that gets SS'd out for a tribute and this card destroys backrow once a turn. Again, get rid of dead cards to destroy card for free. Remember that both Su and Nebthet can't sacrifice themselves(But they can sacrifice another copy in hand or on the field) and require a different Hieratic Dragon monster.

And now our Cyber Dragon of the deck:
Spoiler:

If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). This card cannot attack during the turn it is Special Summoned this way. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, and make its ATK and DEF 0.

This card is pretty self explainitory and will set off most of your plays before getting Eset down. Free SS doesn't clog up the normal summon and might buy a turn to get a play going.

Here is our beater:
Spoiler:

When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, and make its ATK and DEF 0. When this card is Tributed: Special Summon 1 "Hieratic" Normal Monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard.

average beatstick, I run two of him. Semi-difficult card to get over, free SS everytime he destroys a monster and sends it to grave, and free level 8 seal(Or 6 if you run the 6 engine) when sacrificed.

Here is the level 8 normal:
Spoiler:

A mysterious engraved Hieratic relic. It was thought to be a simple stone, but it was actually infused with the power of a sun-wielding dragon. Aeons passed, and the power of the relic grew and grew until it finally shone like the sun itself.

This is your main level 8 engine card. So many uses and so many rank 8's it can go into.

Here is the level 6 gemini:
Spoiler:

This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it become an Effect Monster with this effect.
‚óŹ You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Hieratic" monster, except "Hieratic Seal of the Dragon King", from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard, in face-up Defense Position.

Yea you heard right. A gemini in this deck. He's the one to use to get in grave for Su and Nebthet. If not, then just summon him down next turn and use that effect for a free Hieratic on the field. I personally don't use him.

Now for the XYZ cards:
Rank 6:
Spoiler:

2 Level 6 Dragon-Type monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck, and make its ATK and DEF 0. This card cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect.

This card gets you a free Red-eyes Darkness Metal Dragon to SS from grave, a free hieratic to sacrifice, etc. He's also a target for a support XYZ that I will get to later on in the post.

Rank 8:
Spoiler:

2 Level 8 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Tribute any number of monsters from your hand and/or your side of the field (minimum 1), then destroy an equal number of cards on the field.

This card is the "Fuck your field" card. Sacrifices ANY monsters from field and hand, counted as tribute of course, and destroys an equal number of cards on the field. This card doesn't target so it can eliminate Obelisk with ease.

With that, we head into the useful spells:

First up is our searching card:
Spoiler:

Add 1 "Hieratic" monster from your Deck to your hand.

Simpliest of simple search cards. So good to use to fish out Tef or Gebeb or any Hieratic card you need. Downside is that only two can be run in a deck. Why? I have no real idea.

this card is our anti-dead hand:
Spoiler:

Special Summon 1 "Hieratic" monster from your hand.

This card gets ANY hieratic out that doesn't require a summoning condition. really good if you can't normal a Gebeb or Eset or get a Tefnuit out.

And that's all the spells that Hieratics have to their name. Now onto the traps:

First up is our Solem:
Spoiler:

When a Spell Card, Trap Card, or monster effect is activated: Tribute 1 "Hieratic" monster; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.

This card is just so good in the deck. Stops almost anything without sacrificing life points, really hurts some decks and even more some monsters like Zenmains, Maekstoke, and such.

Next our banishing card:
Spoiler:

Tribute 1 "Hieratic" monster to target 1 card your opponent controls; banish that target.

This is a card to topple stardust with ease, gets a tribute off, and can even secure from Backrow. Like Dark hole activating, tribute away the monster, banish a card, then when it hits grave, resolves to have a semi-wall to protect yourself. I personally don't like it that much since better options are available.

Here's our banish Recovery card:
Spoiler:

Once per turn, during your opponent's turn: You can send 1 "Hieratic" monster from your Deck to your Graveyard. Once per turn, during your turn: You can target 1 of your banished "Hieratic" monsters; return that target to the Graveyard. When this face-up card on the field is sent to the Graveyard: Target 1 "Hieratic" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.

Easy way to get banished Hieratics back, banishing for fusions or such. And when it gets MST'd you can chain to get a Hieratic on the field quickly.

And that is all the cards that are rather useful in a hieratic build. Now I'll add in the two cards that are rarely seen/used.

First up our level 7 monster:
Spoiler:

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT Dragon-Type monster and 1 Dragon-Type Normal Monster from your Graveyard. If this face-up card on the field would be destroyed, you can Tribute 1 face-up "Hieratic" monster instead, except this card.

Not THAT great of a card. Good target if you run Ashes in your deck build. Gets again, free hieratic summons down and could be used in a rank 7 engine.

Now our level 8:
Spoiler:

Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 3 Dragon-Type Normal Monsters in your Graveyard. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Graveyard to target 1 card on the field; destroy that target.

This card would be an amazing recycle card when used in conjunction with Ashes. However it does get rid of normal targets for hieratic effects.

I'll post support cards later on, stay tuned!

P.S. Props to Neoseeker and Yu-gi-oh Wikia for the images!

And now for our Support cards! Now I won't call up every single one, just the important useful ones.

First up, everyone's favorite rage quitting card:
Spoiler:

During your Main Phase: You can return this card from the field to its owner's hand. During either player's Damage Step, when a face-up LIGHT monster you control battles: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; that monster gains ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent's monster it is battling, until the End Phase.

This card is just the master of toppling cards for light monsters. It will make Veiler beat any card in existence. Just because of Honest's atk gain effect.

Now our Anti-XYZ card:
Spoiler:

You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 2 monsters with 2000 or more ATK. During either player's Battle Step, when this card battles an opponent's monster: You can target the monster this card is battling; banish both it and this card. At the end of the Battle Phase, return any monsters banished by this effect to the field, and if the other monster was an Xyz Monster, this card gains 500 ATK for each Xyz Material it had when it was banished.

Now ours free Tribute card:
Spoiler:

Tribute 2 Dragon-Type monsters; Special Summon 1 Level 8 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck.
